MEN'S MINISTRY

The Men's Ministry (formerly The Division of Men) of the Southside Allied Bodies had its origin through the vision and initiative of Deacon James H. Cary.
It was organized under the name, "The Laymen's Division". The organizational meeting (program) was held in July 1986
at the Antioch Baptist Church in Middlesex County with Deacon Cary presiding. The keynote speaker on that occasion was
Dr. Herbert L. Veney; he was accompanied by the Northern Neck Convention Choir, under the direction of the Reverend William B. Scott.

Highlighting the meeting was the election of Deacon Thomas C. Harris as the first president.Deacon Charles A. Shipp, Sr. was elected as the first recording secretary and the slate of officers was completed with the election of Deacon Carroll Holmes as the treasurer.

MEN OF FAITH AND HOPE BENEFIT

The Men of "Faith and Hope" have come together from the counties of Essex, King & Queen and Middlesex to sponsor this "benefit" to help needy families during the holiday season, and to support the Baptist General Convention's (BGC) James Cary Scholarship Fund. This fifth summit continues to demonstrate that men from the Southside churches can join hands and join-in to make a difference. "We want to be a potential force for service, and positive actions."
